WRITTEN WORKS

CRITICISM, NEWS, AND SCHOLARLY

FILM CRITIC,
THE WINONAN

For 3 years, I acted as the lone film critic for The Winonan, writing over 50 reviews during my stay. Film criticism is still one of my passions, as the ability to imbue each piece with my own voice allowed me to feel as if I was talking directly to the reader.

NEWS AND FEATURES,
THE WINONAN

While Film Criticism was my main gig at The Winonan, I also wrote stories for News, Features, and Sports from time to time. I received a "Best in Show" award for Sports story at the 2017 Spring ACP Conference, and was known as a well-rounded journalist in all fields.

SACRED FILM: THE SURREALIST DOGMA OF ALEJANDRO JODOROWSKY

During my time in the Film Studies department at Winona State University, I wrote dozens of papers of films and film theory. My largest and most fully formed work was my essay on the films of renowned surrealist Alejandro Jodorowsky. I analyzed a set of his films through a combination of psychoanalytic and surrealist theory, with references to dadaist filmmaking and auteurism.
